The Story
The Clauseâs debut album âVictim Of A Casual Thingâ comes pressed to black and white splatter LP, limited to 500 copies and hand-numbered to order. The band have forged a reputation for their fiery live shows following gigs with Lottery Winners, Courteeners and The Reytons as well as attracting huge festival crowds at The Isle of Wight, Truck and Tramlines.
Following in the chart success of the likes of The Kâs and The Royston Club, the Birmingham four-piece are the next band to prove that indie-rock thrills speak to a new generation. As weâve heard on recent singles âNothingâs As It Seemsâ and âElishaâ, they excel at stirring, hook-heavy anthems built for pints-in-the-air chaos at gigs and festivals alike. But elsewhere - especially on their latest track âTell me What You Wantâ - theyâre also masters of big riffs and sleek grooves which feel like their eraâs answer to the likes of Foals and Bloc Party.
While Victim of a Casual Thing is their debut, it also features some of the moments which have soundtracked their rise so far. Their breakthrough moment âIn My Elementâ and fellow live favourite âI Donât Careâ still shine with youthful attitude and instant accomplishment. But it also presents much more of a bigger future to come: see the slow-burning grandeur of âExceptionâ or the folk-tinged balladeering of âPink Moonâ for evidence. All roads lead to âDonât Blinkâ which constantly builds in stature to sign-off on a joyous note.Â
And thereâs plenty to relate to throughout the course of the record. Itâs packed full of stories of daring to dream and wanting more from life; of fleeting connections and faltering romances; of wild nights and the next morningâs recovery. Itâs the sound of four still-youthful friends continuing a dream theyâve shared since they were sixteen-years-old. Where it will eventually take them is yet to be written, but doing precisely what they want in the here-and-now is all that matters.
